If your 1946 is serial number 813 or above use the pipe thru knee joint and floor jack. If s/n 812 or lower you have to raise at wing tie downs. Above is link that explains how.

So is the implication of your suggestion that the tie down points on the wings are strong points and that it is safe to put a jack there?

If the 1946C is serial number 812 or lower you must remove wing tie downs screw in bolt with washers and use aircraft jacks.
