You will require a logbook entry by a A&P stating the plane has been inspected and found safe for a ferry flight, he will also have to check the ADs to make sure that they allow the plane to be ferried, some ADs do not allow ferry flights and would have to be done before a ferry permit can be issued.

A&P, IA, PPSEL
too many years GA and Warbird Maint

I would think the owner of record would apply for it, since it will take the FAA ages to process the new registration. Get your permit here:

FERRY PERMIT was created by Scott Engelhart
In a case where an aircraft is being sold and a ferry permit will be needed for the plane to travel from point of purchase to it's new base, is it correct that the buyer files for the Ferry Permit?

Does the buyer need to have the plane Registered prior to applying for said permit?

I'll appreciate anyone with first hand experience.

Thanks much,

Scott
