Mine was really really tight. I had to remove the carb heat hose and somehow got a rod in there to drive the filter out from behind. I don't think it had been replaced in decades, probably because nobody could get it out. Sorry, probably not the answer you are looking for.
I replaced it with an Aero Filter BA8810.

Hello I am new to the Ercoupe and am struggling with how to remove the air filter so it can be replaced. On Univair it is part number (415-40585-1 ERCOUPE AIR FILTER). Can anyone give some guidance. I'm sure it is something simple but for the life of me I'm not seeing it. Thank you!
