Hi Jorgen,
I used Bill Hirsh Miracle Paint, rust killer. It doesn't take much so just buy the pint. It is best to get the grey/silver. You really need to strip the tanks first. I had them dipped and stripped which etches them a little also. Be sure and completely wash off any stripper first. Then just follow the directions of my previous post. I figured if a rivet ever starts leaking again all I will need to do is strip and clean just that rivet and use the stuff again. You can paint over it once it drys. Mine has not leaked at all.

I repaired my leaking Alon tanks and it was easy, worked well, no sloshing, and passed pressure tests. No leaks. I had the tanks dipped to clean them in and out. Then hooked up a vacuum to lower pressure in the tank. Then painted all the seams and rivets on the outsid with Bill Hirsh miracle paint. Used three coats. Fuel, chemicals, etc don't affect it and it is tuff stuff. The vacuum sucks it in to seal the micro holes around the rivets. No leaks and easy to do.

I understand it is a labor intensive and rather costly repair.
In my search for an aircraft, I came across an Alon Aircoupe that the owner claimed were prosealed for over 20 years with no leaks!
