It was built at a shop in the South but any shop could do the STC. I really enjoy the added HP. I have to say that there is no reason not to change the crank at rebuild time. It is well worth the added cost IMHO. At my field altitude of 6700 ft it was essential.

After nearly two months in the shop, I flew my plane home from the repair shop. I took off from Carson City to head home to Lake Tahoe. I was watching engine parameters closely but I did get a chance to do one test. At 7000 ft I pitched for 80kts and saw 800 to 1000 vertical climb rate. I am impressed and will continue testing.
It cruises at 100 (used to be 80) and gets to 9000 ft much easier. woo hoo! It's almost like being at sea level.
