Motor oil has a flashpoint of about 400 degrees, well above the 140 degree limit of the USPS. About the same as cardboard. In small quantities (less than 1 gallon), it should mail just fine, unless you get a counter person unfamiliar with the rules. It is also considered non-hazardous for shipping purposes.

The other option is to put on a bunch of postage and put it in a mail box, like the postage paid. Then you avoid the over-zealous counter person.

Thanks. Even though I’m not using Blackstone, the rules still apply.

Oil analysts by mail? was created by Larry Snyder
For 20 years I’ve mailed an oil sample to the lab for analysis after every oil chsnge. The kit has contained a prepaid mailer. For some reason I had a kit that required postage. The post office would not accept it. They ask if it contains anything hazardous, flammable or liquid. Am I supposed to lie? Why all if a sudden is it not allowed after 20 years of mailing them? My only alternative is UP$.
Looks like fewer analyses for me!!
