				I was going to get those additional baffles for my 415C after upgrading to a C85, but several people told me it was expensive and unnecessary. Oddly, I seem to remember Vernon telling me they didn’t help. This was many years ago, perhaps he has more information now. If you read the TCDS carefully, it appears that those baffles are only required if the aircraft has a certain off-brand prop. I’ve flown my plane 1700 hours without those baffles and have great temps. I have a C85 with the O200 crank STC. I would carefully go over the baffles and put some of the seals on them.

				Hi Morris;
I was having oil heat problems in our 415C with a C-85 too. I mentioned this to Vern Gregory, the Skyport owner, when we were at the Madras Air Show in 2023. He had me open the cowling to see how my baffling was and it turned out I was missing 3 pieces of baffling that directs air flow over the oil tank. There were 7 Ercoups there and they all opened up their cowlings and only 1 had it right! Ha! So for $450 Vern sold me the missing pieces which my A&P IA installed at last year's annual. It was complicated and took him 4 hours. So another $400. Unfortunately, it didn't run any cooler! and my flight to OSH had to be aborted after just 10 minutes! We are just getting it back together after discovering that the pushrod tube seals were leaking. While test running to look for oil leaks, we discovered that the mixture cable had come undone leaving the mixture in a lean condition. It is likely this came apart due to the work installing the baffling! I am hoping when this gets reconnected and is reset rich, the oil temperatures will come down. I also installed a wolf cooler on the oil filter.
Let me know what has transpired with your engine.

				on the C90 the baffles made a big difference on mine, While I was fitting mine I made duplicate parts out of fiberglass for later use if needed.

				I upgraded my C-75 to a C-85 with the O-200 crankshaft STC in 2006. Careful reading of TCDS 718 led us to believe the sump baffles were not required. I spoke to several experts and they agreed that those baffles do little. I have not had temperature issues with mine. It’s kind of stunning to see how much Univair charges for parts!!

				Anyone have pictures of the oil sump cooling baffels installed on a C85? I have a standard Oil cooler with no oil filter and no oil sump cooling baffels Are the oil sump cooling baffles required or optional? Univair sells a kit but it cost over $1500 and I have never seen one installed.
