The 2026 Great Ercoupe Relay
- Relay Section 5 Discussion

In 2026, the EAA is spotlighting the "Class of 1946" postwar boom aircraft. Since so many of our Ercoupes were manufactured in 1946 this is a natural fit for the club.

Oceano would work, once again weather permitting since it's also prone to May Grey, June Gloom marine layer conditions. I'm not sure about others in NorCal participants, I haven't had a response here or to
emails to the addresses from the EOC roster.

Cool! John, I'm back in the air, and available to do my part. Where would it make sense for me to pick up from? Maybe pick up from Oceano? Take it up to Oregon? Who else is going to take part in NorCal?

Group 5, the ball is now in our court, with the banner kit in San Diego for the SW corner of the Continental US. Time to work out getting up to the NW corner.

Greetings all. It looks like I'll be able to connect with Loye the first part of next week to continue the relay to the west coast. I'm based in San Diego (KMYF) and a potential hurdle is the annual May Grey conditions. The marine layer "usually" burns off by mid-late morning.
It's time to start thinking about future handoffs to keep it going. What is everyone's location and availability?
Cheers,
John Jones

OK I'm up near Lake Tahoe (actually KGOO), and can handle NorCal, or Northern Nevada duties! My Ercoupe is currently in annual, but should be up again in a week or so. I have a trip scheduled up to central Oregon in two weeks, as well.

Based on the email chain for Group 4 I believe Tom and Loye were planning on getting the four corners (Colo. Utah, NM, AZ ) as well as Nevada. I could take over from Laye at his home base of A20 and get it into Cali. starting with San Diego. I can start it up the state if folks don't want to brave the Class Bravo airspace is SOCAL. John
