* An asterisk beside the identifier indicates airfields that were used for training during WWII as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The USAF also made use of pilots trained in the RCAF programme, so we should always be mindful of the history behind these fields. They were important to both countries.

3. Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association Fly Day, Tillsonburg ON (*CYTB, date). I took my brother to this event and learned that auto mechanics find airplane guts fascinating. ( So do I!) There is much restoration at this field, and it has many resident, very active flying warbirds, as well as a great café.

AND I met another coupe owner! This coupe stays local and flies in calm morning and evening weather. Much different flights than mine, and a lot newer and prettier!

2. Stratford, ON (date/identifier later) for a Fly-In luncheon. A year ago or so I had invited a friend to my hangar for a party and he immediately went out and bought the Piper seen here in the background. I took his daughter (a pilot in training) up for an Ercoupe ride before the luncheon, and she was delighted to see the nearby community for the first time from the air. Seems she had never left the circuit. I re-affirmed that an overshoot is the better choice if variable/gusty winds keep you guessing when the plane is settling in. The second final approach had much steadier winds and the landing was smooth as glass. Far better for all concerned than the first would have been.

Well I am gunning for one of those slick new badges, which means I need to fly to 15 events! I figure everyone else can do this too, and start their own thread for their 15...giving date, event name and location ( so we can all go there next year) and something we learned or shared from the trip to the fly-in. I'll add to this shortly once I figure out how picture posting works.

Okay, this picture is from my trip to the 99's fly in luncheon in Lindsay. (date and identifier to follow) Lindsay has a restaurant and an amazing selection of delicious butter tarts ( four kinds!) I met another Ercouper there who ended up coming to Oshkosh with his wife! I learned that dark (the recently thawed Holland Marsh) land near ice covered lakes (L. Simcoe) makes for interesting lift patterns! Here is a picture of the girls with my plane in the background.
