I finally achieved success in my VARMA request for the then and now fuel pump overhaul kit.  Just so everyone understands, my VARMA approval is only for my tail number, but now that I have completed it, it is easily reproduceable through the same ACO. In a perfect world, anyone can reference my approval during their request and it should be relatively quick. I worked on this passively and it took about 5 months. The ACO engineer was very helpful and held my hand through the process I let him know that after my approval was complete, I was going to post it to the owners club and he should expect additional requests. This kit has all of the parts for an entire rebuild which also includes the three parts for the mandatory AD.
I take this as a small win, now we can start blazing a trail for additional items that are hard to come by or impossible and start the process. The process was free of charge except my time and a letter from my mechanic (who is my son and will probably not be paid for his time) so I get to use some of my tax dollars for my benefit.
