My very first thought was “check the gauge before messing with the rigging.” I’m a fan of checking the easiest and cheapest things first, before tearing into costly and time consuming projects.
Example: last year, my oil pressure was showing low. I posted and asked opinions. Several gave worst case scenarios including engine overhaul.
I stuck a $50 new gauge in there. Problem solved! (And yes, my work wS checked and signed off by my AP/IA.)

This appears to have been the issue. When I checked the level between the two window sills and compare agains the ball, the ball was way off. The ball gauge is now adjusted so it is level with the window sills.

I was thinking about this last night. 3800H has a new panel put in and when it was drilled it may been drilled on a slight angle.

level the plane LT to RT, and see where the ball is, the mounting holes should be elongated to allow adjusting the instrument.
