Back about 1968 or 9 six of us got together and had 6 sets built at one time. They were cheaper per set than just 1 set.. Put an add here looking for those who may up up for a set. A lot do not like the setup of 415s then go looking for prices. The pic of the hanging pipe I do not see any sign of the pipe strap that should be down there for the vibration damper.<<<<<

The double loop16 inch door spring I bought is going to get the torch tomorrow. I measured the pipe with a cloth measuring tape and I’m thinking it needs to be 35 inches after heat.

Good tip on the McMaster spring number. I may try that while my exhaust is off waiting for the engine overhaul to be complete.

I bought a similar spring. I measured the wire diameter, inside, and outside diameters.
I need to find some way to really heat it (acetylene torch) up in order to stretch it out another wrap or two.
When I tried to put the heat muff on, the springs weren’t stretched out thin enough and the springs bulged out the sides of the heat muff and the additional thickness prevented the heat muff from closing.

If an item is not available and Univair will not share blueprints (and they will not), you get to reverse engineer and mimic the part the best you can based upon what you have. This is not a critical item, and as mentioned screen door springs do nicely.
For one reference, I used part number 9664K52 from Mcmaster & Carr successfully for the last 5 years. I had to stretch it a little, and form the ends. YMMV!
