I noticed that this thread started in July, an issue I have with some of my flight school planes in summer heat is vapor lock. With the running of auto gas and the high temps, you might have been on the edge of vapor lock and when at high angles of attack the fuel was fighting bubbles to get to the carb.

No issues other than hesitation on opening the throttle to fast. This may be just characteristic of the carb, no accelerator pump. I may have the carb overhauled once winter sets in and I choose to park the Coupe for a while. Right now having fun with it and earning my sport pilot license.

Second flight went very well. Cooler, perhaps more avgas. No problem at high angle of attack this time.

Thanks Henry, I am scheduled to go tomorrow....I am comfortable with a takeoff at a low angle of attack, I believe the CFI is as well. We will discuss it. I will have the carb checked. Gas flow is unimpeded at the gascolator.

I would check the gascolator and disconnect the fuel line from the carb and see if you get a good flow of gas into a container. Avgas is much better than auto. It may need a carb overhaul. Check the float level in the carb. I would fix it before the next flight.
